When it comes to mastering most anything, the earlier you learn it the better. In this week's segment of "Hailey's Heroes" CBS19's Hailey Francis discovers the same applies to giving back.
A mom and tot pair think it's never too soon to bring a smile to someone's face. At Meals on Wheels Headquarters in Charlottesville each weekday morning, meals are prepped, packed, and delivered by an almost entirely volunteer staff.
"We have three part-time paid staff, and hundreds of volunteers. We can't function without our volunteers," says Mandy Hoy of Meals on Wheels.
Just last year, a new little helper started making the rounds with Mom in tow.
Each and every Thursday, Golden and her mom Adeline Masah pack the car with Meals on Wheels lunches, then deliver them to about a dozen people at Crescent Hall in Charlottesville. Golden is only two years old.
Meals on Wheels delivers five days a week. Pickup for drivers is off Ivy Road in Charlottesville. They rely almost entirely on volunteers.
