When there's the potential for a foot of snow, many people get excited about the chance to stay home from work. However, managers at Reid's Market say there's one employee they can count on no matter how much snow Mother Nature brings.
Rain, shine, or snow, Reid's manager Mike Hudgins says Linda Lamb always makes it to work.
"Oh yeah, she'll be here, guarantee it. I don't think she ever misses a day," said Hudgins.
A familiar face to customers at Reid's, Lamb has been bagging groceries at the local market for nearly 23 years. She credits her perfect attendance to keeping a tight schedule.
"I work Monday though Friday, 8-9; 12 hours a day then off on weekends. In the mornings when I come in I get change for the girls if they need change. I'm up in the office sometimes doing money orders, and if the girls need help with anything, I'm out here to help them," said Lamb.
"Even if she's just down the other isle, you just buzz for her, she comes, and she's always readily available," said co-worker Cheryl Skinner.
Lamb is a hard worker with a long resume. She says she's been working since age 16 at local places like Rudy's Dry Cleaners, Newcomb Hall, and the Paramount Theater. No matter the job, Lamb says it's the manner that matter.
"I think all the cashiers should speak to everybody that comes in here - through their line - say thank you and be polite and nice," said Lamb.
Linda Lamb makes service with a smile seem like an understatement, and she checks dedication off her list every day. That makes her this week's hero.
