One local couple is giving back using a camera and a little free time. Marilynn and John Sting are taking photos of dogs at the Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA. These are the same photos used to help them get the dogs adopted.
Once or twice a week, you can find Marilynn and John Sting at the CASPCA. Marilynn brings her camera and John has a dog on hand ready to help his wife get the best shots.
They take all kinds of pictures like portraits, action shots and even photos with the dogs snuggling. The shots she takes on her camera are then put on the SPCA's website under each dog's profile.
Each profile gets updated weekly with new photos. That's one of the first places folks will check when looking for a new four-legged friend.
"We hope that we make a difference and we hope that the photography that we do gets a dog a forever home. That's really our goal," said Marilynn Sting, Volunteer, CASPCA.
"We look at the website three to four times a day. The minute my wife or I notice a dog has been adopted, we say oh somebody got adopted and we celebrate. We love it. It's our sole purpose," said John Sting.
Lisa Lane who's the director of marketing and development at the CASPCA says this couple has done so much to help the organization and the animals. She adds, their photos really help to get the dogs new homes.
"I hear comments weekly from people that 'we want to show up.' People look at pets on Petfinder and their photos really pop and get people excited about being here. I love that they show a little bit of the pets personality," said Lane.
In addition to the profile pictures, the couple also helps out with special promotions and advertising photos.
