Students and those who know Maria Pace say her art is touching the lives of people in Central Virginia and other parts of the world.
Maria Pace eats, sleeps and breathes art. She’s been painting for several years and recently had what she calls the opportunity of a lifetime; A chance to participate in an art residency program in France, and have her artwork displayed in a museum there.
“Really exciting because I really believe that if you dream something up nine times out of ten it will come true.”
For an entire month she worked on stacks of paintings, many of which were inspiration for other art projects.
“Her textiles are just fabulous,” said Julie Jackson of the Orange Art Center. “The way that she can just transfer her water color on to textiles is just beautiful.”
When Maria isn’t traveling the world, working on her own art, she teaches art at the Orange Art Center and in her home.
Folks that have taken her class say she is a real inspiration for up and coming artists.
“They love her class,” said Jackson. “She's just so kind and so encouraging. I just think it's great that she hasn't given up her dream and that she's doing her art and loving her art.”
Pace says she wants to encourage others, because that is what her family, friends and teachers did for her.
“A lot of times that’s all people need is to her those words and to have someone say you can do this. Let me tell you about this thing that I did, and there's no reason you can't do it.”
A few kind words that she hopes will go a long way for local artists
