Stephanie's Heroes: Divine Women of Destiny

July 4, 2011

When she's not arguing for a case in court, you can find Cynthia Murray all over Charlottesville making a difference for dozens of women.

"We encourage women, uplift them, support them and their families in whatever way that they need," said Murray, founder and CEO of Divine Women of Destiny.

For five years Murray and the ladies of the organization have worked together to make life a little easier for local women in need. The group has even adopted the Hearth Wood neighborhood in Charlottesville, hoping to connect with residents and assist them in any way they can.

"So we reach out to women because we can relate to them. We can tell them we've been through this situation; we can relate to what you're going through with your emotions or your family," said Murray.

Murray says she and the Divine Women of Destiny always work to go above and beyond, distributing baskets of blessings, as Murray calls them, and offering money management courses. They're striving to help as many women as possible get on their feet and have a better handle on their finances.

"We're a shoulder to lean on and a hand to hold," said Murray. "It's very rewarding to know that a life has been touched and encouraged and improved."

Murray says that is what keeps her motivated to keep the baskets and the organization going.
