Nearly 21 million individuals in the U.S. have diabetes, and it is the 5th deadlist disease in the U.S. What's more shocking is the fact that 5 million more people don't even realize that they have it.
November is American Diabetes Month, a time to learn more about the disease. Dr. Christopher Zitnay from the Martha Jefferson hospital talked about the startling statistics of diabetes and obesity, and as well as the illness itself.
Martha Jefferson is hosting a Diabetes Fair on Saturday, November 11th from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to help inform people on what diabetes is, and how to better manage the disease. The fair will be at the Martha Jefferson Outpatient Care Center on Peter Jefferson Parkway.
