For this week's UVa Today, David Germano, Professor of Tibetan Buddhist Studies visited the Newsplex to talk about plans for the Contemplative Sciences Center.
The University Plans to establish the center with a $12 million gift from longtime benefactors. Sonia and Paul Jones of Greenwich, Conn., made the donation.
Germano says the goal is bind to together various people across grounds in nursing, medicine, college and arts and sciences, psychology and education.
"To try to work together in terms of thinking about how contemplative traditions can be applied in the modern world, learning research and social engagements," said Germano.
Germano says the center is important because it can help students become aware of their emotions, physical and mental life.
