For this weeks UVA today, University of Virginia professor Gerald Learmonth visited the Newsplex to talk about the Computing for Sustainable Water (CFSW) project.
"We decided to take a more detail look at the problems with the Chesapeake Watershed," said Learmonth.
The project uses a model that looks at ways nutrient loads can impact the Bay.
"We are looking at a possibility of implementing any number of best management practices for agriculture and urban areas, that will enable us to limit the flow of nutrients, that eventually reaches the bay and can cause dead zones to occur in the bay," said Learmonth.
The project is being run on the IBM World Community grid, it was launched on April 17, 2012
