It's all about move-in weekend at Thomas Jefferson's university in this week's UVa Today.
UVa's Associate Dean of Student Gay Perez sat down with our Bob Beard Wednesday to talk about what the university and community can do to best prepare for the onslaught of temporary residents. She said about 6,000 students will come to town on Friday and Saturday and more than 1,200 students are already on campus, partly to help others get settled on grounds.
Perez said officials are hoping for a smooth transition and asked that those who don't need to be in the area of grounds please stay away.
