UVa Today: Youth-Nex

A center based at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education called “Youth-Nex,” awarded $153, 715 to four UVa. research teams
.
Researchers will be able to study a range of youth development issues, such obesity, bullying awareness, teen drivers with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and helping middle school students tackle local environmental problems.

Dr. Matthew Throwbridge of the University of Virginia Department of Medicine is part of one of the four teams that will be receiving money for research. He will help doing research on obesity.

“This is an ongoing epidemic we are dealing with in this country. There has been lots of research thinking about how do we prepare our you so that as they grow up, how do they maximally understand how to eat healthy and how to incorporate physical activity,” said Dr. Matthew Throwbridge of the University of Virginia Department of Medicine.

The goal is to help promote positive youth development.
