The University of Virginia is preparing for the Foxfield Races Saturday. School officials want to make sure students are safe, and alcohol consumption does not get out of hand.
"The main message is safety, look out for your friends," said Susan Bruce of UVa Student Health.
Bruce recommends students have a buddy system to make sure they make it home safely. She also says students should eat plenty of food.
The University offered students a free T-shirt if they pledged to not drink at all at the races. More than 600 students signed that pledge.
