For this week's UVa Today, Dean Dorrie Fontaine of the University of Virginia School of Nursing visited the Newsplex to discuss the shortage of nurses as faculty members in schools.
"There are 75 thousand individuals that are qualified to get into nursing schools around the country and we are unable to meet that demand because we don't have enough faculty," said Fontaine.
Fontaine encourages nurses to go back to school to get their masters or Ph.D so they can teach. The University of Virginia is graduating 214 nursing students this year.
