UVa Today: Physicist Involved in Higgs Research

July 6, 2012

University of Virginia physicist Dr. Brad Cox in the College of Art and Sciences has been involved in the Higgs search otherwise known as the 'God Particle' at the Large Hadron Collider.

The Higgs particle suffuses all of space. We're living in a sea of virtual Higgs particles," said Cox.

Cox went on to say it feels like mass to human beings.

Dr. Cox worked with thousands of colleagues worldwide and worked on the research for decades. The announcement was made about the discovery on July 3 in Switzerland.
