UVa Today: Soundscapes in Jefferson's America

For this weeks UVa Today Richard Will of the University of Virginia Music Department visited the Newsplex to talk about the Soundscapes of Jefferson's America. The event will explore the musical world of Thomas Jefferson.

"We will have a number cases with kinds of artifacts that remain from the soundscape and from the musical life and the other kind of sonic life of Jefferson's era," said Will.

Students will performing and there will be a series of lectures. The events will be held on March 30 and March 31.Will says during the Jefferson era many people created and listened to music by playing instruments or singing.
He also mentioned many of the instruments used were European, American and African.
