Doctors in central Virginia are treating more patients for the flu. In this week's What's Going Around we're checking in with two local medical offices and both are reporting flu cases.
Dr. Louisa Hann of Blue Ridge Internal Medicine says symptoms include chills, headache, fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, muscle aches, weakness, fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea.
Dr. Paige Nolte of Palmyra Medical Associates recommends a few different medications for treatment.
Dr. Nolte says Tylenol, Motrin, rest and fluids can help decrease symptoms and the duration of the flu infection, but not cure the virus.
Dr. Hann is reminding people that it's not too late to get a flu shot.
