What's Going Around: Sinus Problems and Respiratory Infections

December 31, 2012

Doctor Yates Sealander of Madison Family Medicine says sinusitis is going around there.

Sympotms include nasal congestion, facial pain and pressure, nasal discharge and sometimes fever.

When it comes to treatment he suggests decongestants like Sudafed or a nasal spray and also says it's a good idea to stay hydrated.

At Blue Ridge Internal Medicine in Charlotteville Doctor William Tompkins is seeing more patients with upper respiratory tract infections.

Symptoms include aches, cough, sore throat, nasal congestion and sinus pressure.

Doctor Tompkins recommends Tylenol for aches, cough drops or Mucinex for your cough, warm salt water gargles for a sore throat, and Sudafed 12-hour for nasal congestion and sinus pressure.
