Many local teams put the cap on their respective regular seasons Friday night and several teams were hoping to remain unbeaten.

Western Albemarle and Goochland hit the field to battle for the Jefferson District title. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a safety and led by that count at halftime, but pulled away in the second and went on for the 23-0 win. The two teams both finish 9-1 overall, 6-1 in the district, and split the Jefferson District title.

Buckingham had to fight off a pesky Amelia team, but grabbed the 10-6 victory to improve to 9-0. The Knights will travel to Central Lunenburg next Friday in search of a perfect regular season and a James River District championships.

Madison used four total Logan Terrell touchdowns to power past Manassas Park, 41-0. The Mountaineers also improve to 9-0 and have a big match up with Clarke County next Friday. Both teams will take the field at Madison with 9-0 records and do battle for the Bull Run District championship. Clarke beat Manassas Park last week and had a bye this Friday.

Louisa earned a berth in the playoffs with a 35-0 win over Fluvanna. The Lions end their regular season 7-3 and will await their regional playoff seeding.

Orange hosted Charlottesville to close out the season, but it was the Knights ending their 2009 campaign with the win. Charlottesville topped the Hornets, 20-18, to finish the season 4-6. Momentum shifted in the game when Maurice Jackson picked off a pass in the endzone and returned it 103 yards for the touchdown.

Monticello ended its season with a victory tonight, topping William Monroe, 40-17. Jesse Ayers was a one-man wrecking crew for the Mustangs tonight, rushing for 230 yards and five touchdowns. Marquis Towles scored twice for the Dragons in the losing effort.

Albemarle took the field in search of its first win of the season, but could not stop Brooke Point. The Blackhawks topped the Patriots, 69-14.

Nelson earned a Dogwood District win on Friday by topping William Campbell, 18-14. The Governors wrap up their 2009 schedule next Friday at Altavista.

Private school action saw STAB and Blue Ridge renewing their rivalry. The Saints clicked on all cylinders Friday afternoon, storming past the Barons, 30-7.

Covenant could not grab a win in its season finale, falling to Christchurch, 53-20. Chris Shifflett had two touchdowns in the Eagles' loss.
