Three area high school football teams will take the field in regional quarterfinal action this Friday night. All three teams posted solid regular seasons and now look to begin a march towards a state championship.

Western Albemarle enters as the number three seed in Region II and will host sixth seeded Skyline in the quarterfinals. Skyline comes in from the Northwestern District and finished the season 6-4. The Warriors boast a 9-1 regular season record and look to rebound from a 23-0 loss at Goochland in its regular season finale. Western and Skyline kickoff at 7:30 on Friday night in Crozet.

Goochland will look to continue its hot play, after handing the Warriors their first loss of the year this past Friday. The Bulldogs are also 9-1 on the year and earned the number four seed in Region II. They'll host fifth seeded Millbrook, which enters with a 5-5 mark on the year. The Pioneers are also in the Northwestern District and will travel to Goochland for a 7:30 kickoff on Friday night.

While Western Albemarle and Goochland take the field on the Division 3 side, Louisa will battle in the Division 4 Region II playoffs. The Lions will hit the road on Friday for a match up with Liberty (Bealeton). Liberty is 7-3 on the season and is the fourth seed in Region II, while the Lions enter as the fifth seed, also with a 7-3 record. Louisa topped Fluvanna this past Friday to end its season on a high note and will battle the Eagles at 7:30 this Friday night.

While these three local teams will look to stay alive and advance in the playoffs, Madison will take the field in hopes of completing an undefeated regular season. The Mountaineers welcome Clarke County to their home field on Friday in a battle of two 9-0 teams. The winner will take home the Bull Run District title. Buckingham also looks to finish 10-0. The Knights head to Central in search of a James River District championship.
