Western Albemarle and Madison took the field on Friday in their respective regional semifinal match ups, but both saw their 2009 campaigns come to an end.

Western traveled to Park View to face the Patriots in the Region II semifinals and ran into a very tough team. Park View posted 35 first half points and that would be all the Patriots needed as the Warriors saw their season end. They finish their season with a record of 10-2.

Madison traveled to Altavista to do battle with the Colonials in the Region B semifinals. After losing to Clarke last week, the Mountaineers were hoping to get back to winning, but that was not the case on Friday night, as Altavista eliminated the Mounts from contention with a 10-0 win. It marks the only time all season Madison has been shut out. Stuart Dean's club finishes with a 9-2 mark.

Three teams take the field on Saturday for playoff action headlined by Blue Ridge's quest for a state championship. Del Smith leads his team against Nansemond-Suffolk in the state title game. The Barons earned the right to host this contest and enter with a 7-3 record. This one gets underway at 1:00 pm.

Buckingham puts its perfect 10-0 record on the line in the Region B semifinals as the Knights face off against Gretna. The Knights have stormed their way to the perfect regular season and will take on a very talented Gretna team. Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm.

Goochland will look to become the first and only blemish on Handley's record in the Region II semifinals on Saturday. The Bulldogs head to Winchester to face the Judges. Goochland brings a 10-1 record into this match up, while Handley is 10-0. This one also begins at 1:00 pm.
