2009 saw some memorable performances on the high school gridiron and we recapped our teams' 2009 campaigns in the season finale of Friday Night EndZone.
Western Albemarle, Goochland, Louisa, Madison and Buckingham all reached the playoffs from our area public schools. None of the squads got passed the regional semifinals, but several put together some of the best seasons in their respective school's history.
Blue Ridge and Fork Union reached the playoffs in the private circuit. The Barons made the most noise, advancing to the state finals, where they fell to Nansemond-Suffolk, but it still marked a monumental year for Del Smith's team. Blue Ridge only won three games in 2008.
