Crews cleaned up the fields and buildings at Louisa High School's athletic complex after vandals struck in the hours before a rivalry game on the football field.

Vandals had covered up the lion on the field that is symbolic of the Louisa Lions team. They also had spray painted graffiti. The acts of vandalism were first noticed Friday morning and had been removed by early Friday afternoon.

Louisa plays arch-rival Orange High School on Friday night and witnesses said some of the vandalism included the letters "OC", an apparent reference to Orange County.

This will be an unusually emotional game between the adjoining counties because it comes after an earthquake that closed Louisa High School and forced the Lions to cancel their first game of the season.

I am so sorry this happened. This goes beyond mischief. Children/young adults are not being taught that their actions have consequences. On a related topic, I haven't seen any news about the "activities" that happened at the McDonalds after the game. If what I heard was true people were assaulted , which is not innocent fun. My source says the Lions started this. The field was restored prior to game. Not sure how long bruises, etc. will take to heal.

Seriously cbs19 follower? Vandalism on community that has been struggling to piece itself together after a natural disaster is normal for high school athletics? Rivalries are something to be dealt with on the grid iron, not to be spray painted on the oposing teams field!

I remember doing things like this in high school to rivarly team and they were even done to my school. Its a usual thing.. Yes, it is bad that the school is closed due to earthquake and all but it is to be expected with high school students and sports.
