This week Fridays After Five will headline a local band that will take you back to the golden age of country music.
It's classic old school country music, some may even call it honky tonk. Reminiscent of Hank Williams and early Johnny Cash. But lead singer Jim Waive says don't let the description fool you things can get a bit raucous. "It can get amped up as the sweat gets rolling and the people get stomping."
For some that may be hard to believe especially since they don't even have a drummer. Waive says "(We are) an old school country string band, we don't have a drummer. It's stand up bass, pedal steel, fiddle, and guitar with vocal harmonies."
The lyrics alone tell a story but it's the combination of these four artists that make this group more like a family. "At certain points some of them stand out and at other times they are nestled in the music... your hearing the whole rather than the parts."
But even if you have doubts about there classic country sound, Jim Waive says there are several reason to check them out this Friday. "It seems to be fun, people dance. So I think that you would have a good time and the girls are gonna' dress up pretty so that's another reason."
