A new Virginia Department of Transportation initiative is helping drivers and the environment.

VDOT crews recently updated the existing fog light system on Afton Mountain with LED lamps.

These lamps need less maintenance and use about 75% less energy.

The lights are installed along the edges of the roadway from Milepost 98 in Augusta County to Milepost 104 in Albemarle County.
