Charlottesville Gets Green Award

November 17, 2008

Charlottesville has earned a top rank for its eco-friendly efforts.

The Virginia Municipal League says the city placed first in its going green challenge.

The city competed with other similar-sized areas across the commonwealth.

City leaders say Charlottesville got top marks for adopting green policies, energy efficiency, waste management, and other environmentally-friendly practices.

Charlottesville has also won at least 11 other "green" awards this year.
