January 21, 2009

Albemarle County is adding up its energy savings in the year 2008.

The County focused on areas like cutting energy costs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

County leaders say they saved nearly $104,000 in utility bills and reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 425 tons from the County's office buildings.

That translates to an average energy savings of about 11%.

The biggest progress was in buildings at Court Square. They improved their energy star ratings after several improvements, including adding more energy efficient lights.
