The University of Virginia is urging students and community members to recycle Monday (11/16) as part of America Recycles Day.

It's a day to remind people to recycle, and to buy recycled products.

Events on grounds include a dumpster dive and a tap water challenge. Organizers say the event is a good way to familiarize students with where they can go to recycle on grounds.

"We have so many new students coming into UVa each year who don't know about what's recyclable on Grounds, or they didn't have recycling where they're from," explains Rebecca Oppenheim, a third-year student at UVa. "What we mainly try to do is reach out to students and teach them how to be more sustainable here," adds Oppenheim.

This is the event's 11th year. America Recycles Day is celebrated across the country on college campuses.
