A group of local business men and women met Friday afternoon to plan a Home Energy Makeover contest for the Charlottesville area.

This summer, the Local Energy Alliance Program will partner with several local businesses to give away $10,000 in home energy efficiency work. The purpose of the Home Energy Makeover contest is not only to improve the energy efficiency of one home, but to raise awareness and educate families on how to make their home more healthy and energy efficient.

Cynthia Adams, the executive director of the Local Energy Alliance Program says, "This is a good opportunity for them, not just from an economic or business development perspective, but also because it allows them to tie the important work that they do back to the greater good of the community and that's a great thing to be a part of."

The Home Energy Makeover contest is still in the planning stages, but be on the lookout for more information and details on how to enter over the next few months.
