Faculty and students at the University of Virginia are backing a plan to reduce the school's effect on the environment.
Both the Faculty Senate and the Student Council have endorsed the plan. It now goes to the school Board of Visitors.
The plan includes a goal to reduce the university's greenhouse gas emissions. It calls for emissions to be cut by 25 percent from 2009 levels by 2025.
A presidential committee developed the plan. Committee member William Keene says he believes the plan's goals are reachable.
