HPV vaccine for women for Herpes Virus Simplex one and two have had a breakthrough. Dr. Gwendolyn Kelly explains how women can avoid these two types of sexually transmitted diseases by taking this vaccine.

Dr. Kelly explains how their are two types of herpes. Herpes Simplex One exists on the lips or mouth and are commonly known as fever blisters or cold sores. Herpes Simplex Virus Two are known as genital herpes and can cause itching and burning. Both of these are common infections with Virus One occurring in over 50% of the U.S. Population and one out of five teenagers and young adults acquiring the Herpes Simplex Virus Two. Virus Two can be transmitted through skin to skin and mucus membrane contact, and from a cold sore or fever blister via oral sex. There is no real cure for either of these conditions, but preventive measures can be taken through a vaccine. The vaccine is in development, but has shown that over 70% of women avoid the virus by taking the vaccine.
