The Charlottesville boys followed up their district title win with a playoff victory Tuesday, defeating Fauquier 62-52. The win sets up a rematch with top seed and local rival Fluvanna on Thursday night. The Flucos blew past Warren County 83-56.
In the Region B quarterfinals, William Monroe opened on a 14-0 run against Buckingham, setting up a 73-50 victory. The fifth-ranked Knights were scoreless until 20 seconds to play in the first quarter. The No. 4 Dragons advance to play top seed Dan River on Thursday night at Amherst.
In girls action, No. 2 Monticello won their first every playoff game, edging Handley 49-46 in the Region II Division 3 opening round. That sets up a semifinal meeting with No. 2 Woodgrove who downed Charlottesville 58-25 to advance.
