The Fluvanna boys are once again the No. 2 AA team in Virginia, according to the latest statewide poll released Monday by the Associated Press.

That matches the Flucos' highest ranking of the season. Fluvanna spent two weeks at No. 2 last month before a 74-54 loss at Monticello.

The Flucos were ranked third in the AA top 10 last week.

Fluvanna finished the regular season with a four-game winning streak following the Monticello loss, including a 74-54 win at home over Louisa last Tuesday that clinched a second straight Jefferson District regular season title. The top-seed Flucos host Charlottesville in the district semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Charlottesville.

Brunswick, the defending Division 3 state champs, were once again a unanimous No. 1 in the AP poll. The full AA boys top 10, with last week's ranking in parentheses:

1. Brunswick (1)
2. Fluvanna (3)
3. Christiansburg (4)
4. Loudoun Valley (7)
5. Rockbridge County (2)
6. Grafton (8)
7. Amherst Co. (6)
8. R.E. Lee-Staunton (NR)
9. Handley (10)
10. Potomac Falls (NR)
Others receiving votes: Waynesboro, Briar Woods.

With an early exit from the J.D. tournament and more than likely an early exit in regionals. You cant win championships with a one man team. Also coach of the year should of went to once again Coach Maynard at Western all he does is win.Wait till this sophmore class finishes up.You will see what state championship team looks like.2 have been starting since freshmen and there are 5 more on the way.Western rules Jefferson District sports.
