The William Monroe boys' basketball team forced a first place tie in the Bull Run District Friday night with a 54-46 win over George Mason (17-4, 11-2). It was the Dragons (15-6, 11-2) sixth straight victory and could result in a one game playoff for the title. First, Monroe and Mason must win their regular season finales.

The Dragons travel to Rappahannock Monday while the Mustangs host Manassas Park Tuesday. If they remained tied, with two losses a piece, the district crown will be decided Wednesday February 8 at 7 p.m. at Strasburg High School.

Markel Williams (20), Markel Faulkner (11) and Gary Morris (18) combined for all but five of the Dragons points in the win Friday night.

In Jefferson District play, Fluvanna stays on top with a 80-51 win over Powhatan. They conclude the regular season Tuesday February 7 against Louisa. It will be the final game at the Shoebox.

Monticello clinched sole possession of JD second place with a 62-55 victory over Western Albemarle. The Mustangs host Charlottesville in their finale on Tuesday.
