Thursday Governor Kaine announced the "Own Your Future" campaign, a statewide program to encourage Virginians to plan ahead for their long-term care needs.
Almost 200,000 people between the ages of 50 and 52 will receive a letter and informational DVD from Governor Kaine in order to increase their awareness of long term care planning options.
A national study found that almost 70% of people turning 65 will need some long-term care for one year or longer. Virginians can request a free “Own Your Future” DVD that focuses on long-term care planning, which includes information about Medicare and Medicaid as well as tips on aging well.
