Ethanol-based fuel is on sale at the Shell station on Route 29 in Albemarle County for only $1.89. Supporters of the E85 gas say the price is one of the big reasons it should be a larger part of the nation's fuel supply.

E85 gas uses corn as a major ingredient, meaning it's renewable and burns cleaner than regular gasoline.

Officials say several different makes and models of vehicles can take E85 gas. Motorists can look in the owner's manual or next to the gas cap for the phrase "flex fuel vehicle".

The Route 29 Shell station is the only in our area that sells the E85 gas.

Be careful- do not burn in your lawnmowers/blowers/weedeaters etc- they will die! Read owners manual!
