Places 29 is Albemarle County Staff's long range vision for Route 29. The vision includes expanding areas along 29 and making several transportation improvements.
The future of 29 has been debated for a while, the first public hearing on the subject took place in June.
In a Board of Supervisor's Meeting on September 1, Supervisors once again discussed the subject.
Ann Mallek, the Chair of the Board, says "it's important to find a really strong middle ground that people can support and have some emphasis on high priority intersections where we can focus our limited dollars".
Albemarle Staff recommends expanding the area of route 29 near Hollymead. However, the staff recommended against expansion near the National Ground Intelligence Center.
