GE Helps To Create Fellowships For Slain Tech Professors

October 4, 2007

General Electric has donated $300,000 to Virginia Tech to create endowed fellowships in memory of three engineering professors slain in April shootings.

GE Aero Energy Group general manager Charles Blankenship Jr., a Tech alumnus, said they hope the gesture will "allow the spirit and the work of these dedicated faculty to continue at Virginia Tech."

The fellowships will honor Kevin Granata, Liviu Librescu, and G.V. Loganathan, who were among five faculty members and 25 students killed in a classroom building used primarily by an engineering department.
