UVa Student Stabbed Overnight

October 5, 2007

A University of Virginia student was stabbed overnight in the Madison Avenue parking lot.

Officials say the incident began at the Delta Upsilon fraternity house on Rugby Road when an altercation between the victim and the suspect occured.

The fight carried over in to the Madison Avenue parking lot where the stabbing took place. A UVa student suffered from a stab wound to his head and arm. He was treated at the UVa Medical Center and was released.

A suspect was questioned by police but so far no charges have been filed after consulting with the Charlottesville Commonwealth's attorney. Police say that alcohol was a factor and played a part in preventing police from getting statements from witnesses.

Police are continuing to investigate. If you have any information call University Police at 434-924-7166.
