Fluvanna County Gets Ready for Old Farm Day

October 5, 2007

Fluvanna County is getting ready for Old Farm Day.

The annual event started twelve years ago to bring attention and emphasis to the history of farming.

Organizers say it's a family event, complete with local food vendors, entertainment and children's activities.

There will also be horse drawn vehicles, plows, antique tractors and a spinning wheel.

"It's grown into almost our version of a county fair. We have all kinds of arts and crafts and we have cider making and apple butter making, and some heritage crafts. We are going to have a blacksmith," said Glenn Schumaker.

The fair runs Saturday from 10am to 4pm at Pleasant Grove Farm off Route 53.

Tickets are $3 for adults and free for children.
