ACAC Hosts Black Tie Ball For Cancer Research

October 7, 2007

Nearly 400 people, many of them cancer survivors, donned black ties Saturday night for the American Cancer Society ACAC Pavilion Ball.

The event's theme was "islands of hope" and a few local prominent cancer survivors served as co-chairs for the night.

"The whole idea is it's one day at a time, so you just suck the juice out of every glorious minute that you have," said survivors Jane Foy and Dick Mountjoy.

Between the $150 tickets, corporate sponsors and the silent auction, organizers were hoping to top last year's total of $139,000.

All money raised Saturday night will go to the American Cancer Society for research.
