Crozet Woman Found After Search

September 24, 2010

A Crozet woman was found Friday morning several hours after her husband reported her missing. The 80-year-old woman apparently wandered away from her home overnight.

Police say Doris Schreek left her home in the Highlands neighborhood and was found on Mechums River Road at about 11am in a parked car 1/2 a mile from her home.

Albemarle County Sheriff Chip Harding said volunteers from his search and rescue team found Schreek and spent hours looking for her.

She was first reported missing by her husband at 7 a.m.

Police say she may be suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.

CBS19 photographer Lewis Tingler says Schreek was taken by an ambulance to be checked out but appeared to be in good condition.
