$250,000 Lottery Ticket About To Expire

October 11, 2007

A Virginia lottery ticket worth $250,000 is about expire if the winner doesn't come forward soon to claim it.

Lottery officials say someone bought a ticket for the April 20th Mega Millions drawing at a 7-Eleven store on the 1500 block of South Fern Street in Alexandria.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 1-9-10-23-53 and the Mega Ball number was 40. The ticket matched the first five numbers and only missed the Mega Ball number.

According to Virginia Lottery rules, the ticket will expire after 180 days, which will occur at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17th.

Unclaimed prize money goes to the state Literary Fund, which is used for educational purposes such as school construction and teacher retirement funding.
