A Regent University law student says the school is threatening to punish him for posting an unflattering picture of Pat Robertson on the internet.
Adam Key says he'll pay any price to defend free expression, especially against anyone who wants to take it away in the name of God.
Key's Facebook social-networking page shows Robertson, Regent's
chancellor and president, making what appears to be an obscene
gesture. The second-year law student copied it from a YouTube video in which Robertson scratches his face with his middle finger.
Robertson has not commented directly on the situation. He said in a statement that no action should be taken against anyone who expresses criticism or satire.
But he says he doesn't think freedom of speech covers deliberately manipulating TV images to transform an innocent gesture into something obscene.
