Orange County Man Pleads Not Guilty To Murder Charge

An Orange County man accused of first degree murder pleaded not guilty Friday to the charge.

Charles Washington is accused of killing a woman with a scooter as she tried to stop him from fighting with another man stemming from an incident on July 4th.

Marylin Baker was sitting on her porch. She heard two men fighting across the street, and went over to break it up. While trying to disrupt the fight, witnesses told police she was hit by a child's scooter. She died from her injuries.

Washington asked and was denied bond. His jury trial is scheduled to begin January 31st.
