Crime Victims United of Virginia has decided to endorse Denise Lunsford for Albemarle Commonwealth's attorney.
The CVUV says they weighed victim statements, press reports, public safety records, police statements, and answers to CVUV's candidate questionnaire before formally making a determination about who would better serve the community as Albemarle Commonwealth's Attorney.
The organization issued this statement:
"We felt that after a review of all the information made available to us that Denise Lunsford is clearly the better choice for this important office.
Our endorsement of Denise Lunsford is not a reflection of this PAC's views about the other staff at the The Commonwealth Attorney's office. We believe under Denise Lunsford's leadership that the assistant prosecutor's in that office will represent the interests of the community well.
We felt issuing the questionnaire was a way for each candidate to both
clarify issues for the PAC and as a means to provide the public with
written assurances about the future direction of the Commonwealth's
Attorney's commitment on issues that are important to public safety."
