Woman Allegedly Kills Boyfriend Shortly After Release From Mental Hospital

November 4, 2007

Virginia mental health officials are investigating a psychiatric clinic in Fairfax County after a woman taken there by police allegedly killed her boyfriend less than an hour after being released.

The Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health in Annandale is the subject of the investigation. Last month Fairfax City police took Fawn C. Scott to the clinic voluntarily after she had an argument with her boyfriend.

Police say that shortly after her arrival, Scott left the clinic and returned to her apartment, where she fatally stabbed Dexter O. Richardson Senior. Scott has been charged with murder.

State officials say the investigation is routine.
