Wyant is accused of shaking his ex-girlfriend’s baby to death and is facing second degree murder charges and felony child neglect.
It only took about an hour total for the defense to plead its case, calling two detectives and four witnesses to testify. Two of those witnesses were Wyant’s mother and father.
His mother said he treated Ally like she was one of his own and she was looking forward to being Ally’s grandmother.
For most of the day the jury watched questioning interviews from Wyant and Ally’s family members following her death.
In Wyant’s interview the detective questioned him on why the baby got sick in his care. After saying he didn’t know a few times he simply walked out of the questioning room.
The defense was quick to point out he was there voluntarily and he was told he could leave at any time.
Closing arguments and deliberation is scheduled to be at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning.
