In our area many are now turning to a product promising to help. They're LED Christmas lights and they use less than one-tenth of electricity of the traditional strand bulbs.

“It's a really popular item this year,” said Don Danich, K-Mart Store Coach.

“They are very popular this year, so popular that we actually couldn't get them is stock,” Mattson Paige said, Blue Ridge Eco Shop Owner.

You'll pay more up-front for these energy efficient decorations and it could take years to see the savings, but the energy-conscious consumers say in the end it's worth it, because they last longer and compared to their counter-parts, use a fraction of electricity.
