One local hotel is getting all decked out for the season and they're doing it for a good cause.
The Doubletree Hotel on Route 29 cut the ribbon on its second annual Greg's House Tuesday evening. The 10 foot tall house was constructed just outside the hotel's entrance and as hotel guests and visitors come to check it out, they're able to make a contribution to Habitat for Humanity. They do that buy purchasing one of Doubletree's famous chocolate chip cookies.
"Habitat's a natural partnership for a hotel," said Doubletree General Manager Mark Hucek. "We kind of provide short-term housing, they provide long-term housing for needy families and so we just feel like it's a natural to partner with them."
Greg's House is named for the Doubletree's cookie chef, Gregory Holder. Holder is a recent graduate of the William Monroe High School special education program.
Through the Greg's House program the Doubletree hopes to raise about $3,000 for Habitat for Humanity's community projects.
