There was a showdown in the state capital on Monday, Feb. 14, as several same sex couples went to the Richmond Circuit Court looking for a marriage license.
But as expected, the eight couples were denied; told the state doesn't recognize same sex marriages.
Afterwards, dozens lined up outside Richmond's John Marshall Courthouse to take a stand on Valentine's Day. Currently, Virginia's lawmakers are working to amend the state constitution to ban gay unions.
This is the second year the same group has approached the Clerk's Office for a marriage license.
They plan to continue their fight until the law is changed.
