Police have arrested a man charged with assaulting two Albemarle County police officers early Wednesday morning, February 16.

Anthony Garland, 50, of Keswick struck a guardrail along Richmond Road just before 6 a.m. The accident left Garland pinned inside.

When rescue crews removed Garland from the vehicle, police say he became violent with two officers and managed to damage both of the officers glasses.

Garland was treated and released from UVA Hospital, and none of the three sustained any serious injuries.

Police believe Garland may heve been driving under the influence at the time of the incident.
